Could your child be eligible for Free School Meals?
If your child is eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), they can receive a healthy, nutritious meal at school every day at no cost to you. Even if your child currently receives a free meal through the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2), it is still important to apply if you think you may be eligible.
Registering for Free School Meals can benefit both your family and our school.
For your child:
- A free, healthy school meal each day (where eligible).
- Access to additional support that may be available through the school.
For our school:
If your child is eligible, the school may receive additional government funding, known as Pupil Premium. This funding helps us provide extra support and opportunities for children, such as:
- Additional teaching and learning support.
- Educational resources and equipment.
- Enrichment activities and school trips.
- Wellbeing and pastoral support.
- Programmes to help children achieve their full potential.
Who can apply?
You may be eligible if you receive certain benefits, such as:
- Universal Credit (provided your household income meets the government's eligibility criteria).
- Income Support.
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA).
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
- The guaranteed element of Pension Credit.
- Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual income is below the current threshold).
- Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit).
