    Published 24/04/24, by Juniper Education

Some children went to take part in Braintree's Eco-Event

The students had to create a planet saving idea as part of the event. They had the idea to create flowers that would hold sugar water as a way to help the bee population around our school. They presented their idea alongside 9 other schools at the event. We were awarded £150 and won a lovely book all about bees.

  • Reception trip to Gemma's Farm

    Published 19/04/24, by Juniper Education

Reception recently had the pleasure of visiting a charming farm in White Notley - Gemma's Farm. This was a delightful experience, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Here are some of the children as they boarded one of the minibuses that took us to our destination. We were very excited!

The farm is not only home to the animals you would normally expect to see on a farm, like pigs and chickens but also some more exotic animals in need of a home like meercats and even a porcupine!

On our arrival the children lined up to have their buckets filled with feed for the animals and it was then their job to make sure no animals went hungry. There were also jobs like watering and egg collecting before being able to get up close and personal with the recently born animals like chicks, lambs and rabbits.

The weather was kind to us, and all children behaved respectfully whilst meeting and then taking care of the animals  - a truly unforgettable day - Well done Reception team and Thankyou to Gemma's Farm - we hope to return!

  • Oaks trip to Colchester Castle

    Published 30/11/23, by Juniper Education

Oaks visited Colchester Castle this week with the rest of Year 4. They had a fanstastic day exploring The Iron Age, The Roman Takeover and The Roman Heyday. The children went into the Roman vault under the castle and they were shown the Roman temple that was originally built before Bouddica and The Celts burnt it down. They were then shown how the castle was built and what would happen if the Celts refused to do their job. We also had a go at building a Roman villa or an Iron Age roundhouse so we could compare the differences. Finally the children walked around the museum to collect information in their packs.
