  • Chinese spring rolls.

    Published 05/07/24, by Juniper Education

Spruces had great fun cooking the spring rolls that they designed today. Each class in the school has been assigned an Olympic team (ours is China). We have been finding out about the country and in D & T we designed a dish from China we would like to make. We all voted and spring rolls came out the top. We used lots of different vegetables and sauces and cooked them in an air fryer - they were delicious!

  • TTRS Rock Star day

    Published 12/06/24, by Juniper Education

On Wednesday 5th June, we held a celebration of Maths and Times tables on Times tables Rock Stars day across the whole school! All the children and staff dressed up as rock stars; sporting wigs, sunglasses, tattoos and make up!

Foundation Stage and Year 1 children and staff came to school dressed as number blocks and participated in a range fun and practical maths-based activities. They made mega mazes, played number games and dominoes, completed a number hunt, practised their half and quarter fractions and listened to counting songs.

Year 2 played on TTRS for the first time, practising their tables and playing against their friends.

Year 3-6 completed different maths activities in their classes.

All the children in KS2 took part in a TTRS arena battle in their class to find the fastest person. These children then battled against the other winners from their year group in front of all of KS2 and year 2 in the afternoon. Children in years 2 - 6 also took part in a Battle of the Bands to see which class could collect the most TTRS points in the day.

    Year 3 winner: Alex M.

    Year 4 winner: Jimmy W.

    Year 5 winner: Olivia K.

    Year 6 winner: Jack A.

The day was a huge success and the joy on the children’s faces was a joy to behold.

Congratulations to all competition winners and to those children voted 'Best Dressed' in their class.

We all had a wonderful time on Thursday during science day. The children were able to experience lots of different experiments and had great fun. Year five looked at how skittles react with warm water, tried to make slime but it was not very successful - better luck next time. We also completed the Mentos & cola/lemonade experiment - we found that the diet cola and lemonade were the most successful.

  • Reception trip to Gemma's Farm

    Published 19/04/24, by Juniper Education

Reception recently had the pleasure of visiting a charming farm in White Notley - Gemma's Farm. This was a delightful experience, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Here are some of the children as they boarded one of the minibuses that took us to our destination. We were very excited!

The farm is not only home to the animals you would normally expect to see on a farm, like pigs and chickens but also some more exotic animals in need of a home like meercats and even a porcupine!

On our arrival the children lined up to have their buckets filled with feed for the animals and it was then their job to make sure no animals went hungry. There were also jobs like watering and egg collecting before being able to get up close and personal with the recently born animals like chicks, lambs and rabbits.

The weather was kind to us, and all children behaved respectfully whilst meeting and then taking care of the animals  - a truly unforgettable day - Well done Reception team and Thankyou to Gemma's Farm - we hope to return!
