Our Reception children, were very lucky to have Michelle Noble-Jones, the author of Manu the Orangutan come and share her story with us. Being an author is Michelle’s hobby, her main job is working for Essex Police. The children found it fascinating that she could have two jobs. She also told them about her trip to Borneo that inspired the book. Here’s the link to the book if you’d like to find out more;https://pegasuspublishers.com/books/michelle-noble-jones/manu-the-orangutan
Nursery were exceedingly lucky to have Tony from Braintree Library come and visit them. He brought in Book Start packs for each child and then read two stories for them. The Gruffalo was definitely a popular choice! Tony mentioned that Braintree Library are encouraging more and more people to come in and spend some time there, they have a lot going on and it can be a fun place to visit. It's not the 'quiet place' that it used to be!
Year 1 had a fantastic day at Hedingham Castle recently.
We had a great time completing our Reindeer Run this morning.
We had a fantastic Christmas lunch cooked by the catering team - it was delicious!
As part of our topic work we were able to experience fossil hunting just like the fossil hunter we have been learning about - Mary Anning. We looked very carefully for the fossils and made sure we dusted them carefully with the brush. We then made rubbings from the fossils using crayons and paper.
John Bunyan Primary and Nursery School were represented at the service and laid a wreath in remembrance of all the fallen soldiers.
In science this week, Year 2 have been learning about teeth and how to keep our teeth healthy. They have found out that we should not have too much sugar and we need to make sure we brush our teeth regularly and correctly. We brushed our teeth and then used disclosing tablets to find out how well we cleaned our teeth. A lot of mouths turned blue and red and then purple!
Cedars have really settled well into year 2 and are having great fun learning lots of new skills and knowledge.
The staff had their own sports day after school on Monday. It was great fun and sometimes very wet!
Thank you to Mr Taylor and Mr Stoneham for organising.
