Indoor PE – Stone Age Dance

Indoor PE – Stone Age Dance
Indoor PE, the Yews children were fantastic and all came prepared with their PE kits, hair tied up and earrings removed where needed. We began by sitting in a circle, counting to a beat of 8 and listening carefully to how the pace and sound changed in an exciting piece of music.
The children then worked in small groups to create their own beat-of-8 dance routines inspired by our Stone Age learning. They showed great creativity by improvising movements, creating simple motifs and beginning to combine these into larger sequences. We also discussed how movements could be adapted and improved, and performed our dances with increasing awareness of rhythm and expression. A wonderful start to our Stone Age dance project!
